Virtual Telecine
Digital Intermediate Film Company turns the shots that have been captured from Telecine or Camera into offline editing files.
These transcoded files retain all the Metadata information, ie. Reel Number, Timecode etc.
The added advantage of using this delivery format as opposed to tape based formats is that an enormous amount of digitising time is avoided.
A simple process of copying the files into your offline editng system and begin editng immediately.
We are able to deliver HD, HDV and DV versions for the offline editng systems. We recommend editng in on an HD ready system like the Avid Xpress Pro HD or Final Cut Pro HD systems as you will be able to work in all the HD supported formats and frame rates like 24 fps to avoid Timecode translation issues.
It is advised that you discuss your Offline requirements in advance of any given production.
Options that need to be specified for offline file generation:
- Resolution: HD (1920x1080 or 1280x720)
or SD (16:9 or Letterbox 4:3)
- Video Format: Quicktime or Avi or listed below
- Compression: DV, DVCPRO 50, Avid DNX HD, ABVB Nuvista etc)
- Colour depth: 10 bit or 8 bit (4:2:2 or 4:2:0 or 4:1:1)
Mostly this is defined by your preffered format within your editing package.
